The red intense of the ponsetia goes days flooding the lounge of direct sales hall of the Mercat de Flor. The most common plant of Christmas offers this year the highest quality to its buyers, fruit of a benevolent autumn that has guaranteed its good morphologic and sanitary condition.

The traditional ponsetia, the red one, represents more than 80% of the product that is demanded these days, and it is possible to find in different presentations and measures, in pots of 7,5 Ø, 10,5 Ø, 12 Ø, 14 Ø, arbustive or as tree-top.

On the other side, there is a wide range of ponsetia in multiple colors: white, yellow, pink, mottled, fuchsia… in its habitual formats of 12 Ø, 14 Ø.

The princettia also consolidates its space among the plants of Christmas season and relies on the Mercat different formats and colors.

The ponsetia and princetia that go out to the sale in the Mercat these days it’s for the most part of Km 0, elaborated overcoat in the region of the Maresme. Due to being a delicate plant that suffers very much with the transport in long trips, only a small part – correspondent to the mini formats – comes from Holland, and another small part rises of the region of Almeria.

From November 23rd to December 23rd the Mercat de Flor i Planta Ornamental de Catalunya opens one more year the ‘Mercat de Nadal’, in which our professional clients can buy firs and Christmas trees of all kinds, besides different classes of greenery, cork, mistletoe, holly…
The ‘Mercat de Nadal’ is located, in an limited enclosure in the exterior area of our building in which it is possible to enter with the commercial vehicles to load the acquired products and make this way the process of purchase easier.

It opens on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 13 hours and from 14.30 to 17 hours, and to accede is necessary to be registered as client of the Mercat.

From Thursday 1st September, the Mercat de Flor i Planta Ornamental de Catalunya recovers its usual schedule of Direct Sales.

If you are a professional of flowers or gardens you can come to buy our products, as always, on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 9 to 13 hours and from 15 to 17 hours.

On the other hand, the offices schedule is from Monday until Friday 8 to 18 hours.

Starting July the 1st until August 31st (both included) the Mercat will be opened for direct sales on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s from 9 to 1 A.M. 

The major nursery production companies in Barcelona have held a new edition of the Viridalia event during the past 3, 4 and 5 of June. During three open days horticulture professionals have had a chance to visit these companies and displays with their latest product news.

These companies are Aldrufeu & Associates, Barberet & Blanc, Grup Roig, Le Petit Géant, Planteles Lloveras, Plantinova, Riera Villagrasa and Syngenta FloriPro Services.

This years’ edition has proven Viridalia to be a benchmark of quality and a commitment by these companies to show and offer their products, service and capacity for innovation. Furthermore, it is also a meeting point and a social event that attracts visitors from all over the world.

The Nursey Growers Association of Barcelona (AAVB) is responsible for organizing and coordinating the Viridalia event. The AAVB is the business association for ornamental plant producers, providing technical service, sales promotion, information or training to more than a hundred companies in the Barcelona area.

The Association is linked to several national and international industry organizations.

We inform you that on Friday, 3rd April, on the occasion of the celebration of Good Friday, the Mercat de Flor i Planta Ornamental de Catalunya will remain closed.

Otherwise, Easter Monday 6th April, it’s also holiday on Catalunya, but the Mercat will be opened extraordinaryly in reduced schedule, from 9 to 13 hours.

Therefore, the timetable for Easter week will be:

Monday 30th March: From 9 to 13 and 15 to 17 hours.
Wednesday, 1st April: From 9 to 13 and 15 to 17 hours.
Friday, 3rd April (Good Friday): CLOSED
Monday 6th April (Easter Monday): SPECIAL MARKET from 9 to 13 hours.

Next 9th, 11th and 13th March the Mercat de Flor i Planta Ornamental de Catalunya starts the spring with a very special week: the Great Week of the Mercat.

There will be three days to present the wide variety of flowers, plants and accessories that Mercat producers and wholesalers offer for the new season. We want to make it known to our customers so they can comfortably start shopping for these dates and order more for the following weeks.

For this reason, the Mercat will open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 to 17 hours without interruption, so you can come and go when it’s better for you to have the necessary time to acquire the entire genre you need. In addition, we have provided a free service restaurant so no one has to hurry to leave lunchtime.

What makes Great Week more attractive is the set of parallel activities and promotions that are planned. With the aim to give ideas to the florists, will be held three flower shows with two of the best catalan florists and a renowned French florist: Eduard Maynegra, Sergi González and Didier Gilles.

There will also be discounts on products for sale and raffles of trolleys with a selection of flowers, plants and accessories for all people who register their attendance during these days. (Read the rules here)

Great Week will also be the time to ‘reopen’ the Mercat, that has taken the winter months to renovate the Direct Selling Hall with improved natural lighting and security measures.
